Membership Information for East Midlands Speakers
East Midlands Speakers was chartered to Toastmasters International in June 2008.
We serve Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire but welcome all.
Our aim is to help people become more competent and confident speaking to an audience
Meetings are structured around giving members opportunity to deliver
speeches from a set programme which leads to a Competent Communicator award.
You choose the topic of your speech, but are asked to meet the
objectives for the level at which you are offering it in the programme.
In parallel, members also progress towards a
leadership award by taking roles throughout the meeting, such as toastmaster of the evening, table topics master, evaluator, grammarian and timekeeper etc.
Speeches are timed in order to provide a discipline of
time-keeping.
Evaluation is offered by the group as a whole as well as by an individual evaluator. Evaluation aims to be supportive and to provide recommendations, NOT to be critical.
Currently, membership
fees are £50 per person per half year.
You would be more than welcome to join us at our
meetings on the
first and third Mondays of each month. Meetings are scheduled to start at
7.30 pm.
